Low Voltage Rangers

So I totes-magotes missed my dentist appointment today, so........that was a thing that happened. Also, Low Voltage Rangers released their first album. Well, that didn't happened today, but I felt I'd still talk about it.

It's pretty good. Low Voltage Rangers is a band from Milwuakee with a kind of alt-rock, electro-pop sound to them, which is really new. Not the whole "We're a band from Milwuakee" part, but the mixing of alt-rock and electro-pop thing. And it sounds really good! Songs like "Columns" and "The Mourning Grew Flowers" I think are really good examples of this. In fact, I was reminded of Blink-182 when I first listened to "Columns".

Here are just a couple great songs from Phantom Forces. If you like these songs definitely go check out the full album at their bandcamp page! Not all of us have $7 though, so at least go and like their facebook page. See you guys tomorrow!

Album Review: Gossamer by Passion Pit

First of all, if you can't listen to this track as it is and don't mind getting Spotify, go do that right now. I'm just trying out the whole "Hey man, did you know that Spotify can be in your blogs and shit?" thing that Spotify always tells me about every like 10 mins. The fact that you have to be logged into Spotify to use the player just makes me hate Spotify even more.

Anyway, holy slug! Passion Pit has finally released another album! Gossamer is definitely one of my favorites to date! I have always loved Passion Pit and this new album just adds more love-wood to the love-fire. It burns brightly today. I feel that Gossamer has more funk and rhythm than their previous albums, Manners and Chunk of Change. Songs like "Constant Conversations" definitely show this with their slowed down tempo and the way lead singer Michael Angelakos sings. Like most Passion Pit albums it has a lot of electro-pop and dance elements in it, especially in the opening song "Take a Walk" and in others throughout the album.

Make sure you grab this album from their website!

John Peña leaves Beach Fossils

Well it's official guys and girls, John Peña has left Beach Fossils to pursue Heavenly Beat full time. It really sucks that he wont be playing bass for Beach Fossils any more but Heavenly Beat has such a great sound I know it wont be all bad. His newest album entitled Talent just came out on the 14th and it really is good. Peña perfectly meshes together ethereal and pop in all of his songs. There's even a little electro-jazz at times.

Below you can listen to "Messiah", the second song off his newest album Talent

You can buy Talent here

The Naked and Famous - Young Blood

Hey guys, even though I'm still in Pittsburgh (and am currently checking out of my hotel to come home) I just couldn't leave you guys hanging today. So yeah it's nothing too undiscovered but The Naked and Famous just like The Knife are two bands that you should totally add to your music library. Really great musicians.

Super Fossil Power - The Road (Pt.1)

Hey guys! How's your week been so far? I hope it's been good. If any of you are baseball fans, I went to the Nationals game yesterday. So yeah...be jealous.

Anyway here's a brand new video from Super Fossil Power which looks to be just a bunch of hipsters jumping around and dancing to Super Fossil Power. The song is pretty good and you should check it out. This song is currently "Name Your Price" on Bandcamp so show them some love...and money...

Man haven't seen this many hipsters since I saw Cloud Nothings in concert. Good times....

Leitbur - Old Life

Guys it's almost the weekend! Almost...but not yet, it's still Thursday. Hope you guys enjoy this tune I found yesterday. I actually found it on Facebook! I know, it's weird to think some of the advertised bands on Facebook could actually be good and not just your normal mainstream bullshit. Anyway this is Leitbur (pronounced light-brrr as his Facebook page says) and this rad tune is number 3 off his newest album entitled Think of Tomorrow.

If you dig it, support the guy!

Neonderthals - B.Q.E.

Often when I haven't noticed any news from the more popular indie bands I surf the internet for cool undiscovered bands. Today, I think the only thing of note is that Twin Shadow's new album comes out which is really awesome! But I blogged about that yesterday so I felt I should do something different.

This is Neonderthals. Not to be confused with the band Neanderthals. They (Neonderthals) are a Dream Pop/Shoegaze band from New York. I think they have a lot of potential. This is one of their songs I found on Youtube. If you like it, head on over to their Facebook page and give them a like! Their debut album is said to be coming out sometime in September.
